Combined Troop Pilot

Big News for 2024!

Nearly all troops in the Scouts BSA program have only two options: they can be either a boy troop or a girl troop. Starting in the summer of 2024, Troop 167 is participating in a new, national pilot program that offers a third option: a combined troop for both boys and girls!

Before being accepted into this pilot program, we had a separate troop (8167) for girls. Troop 8167 had its own Senior Patrol Leader and its own adult Scoutmaster. But when chartering 8167 several years ago, our female Scouts wanted to wear 167 shoulder patches and neckerchiefs. Participating in this Pilot program reflects the female scouts' preference to identify as members of Troop 167.

While we participate in the pilot program, Troop 8167 will be moved to a "hold" status and our 8167 Scouts will be combined with our 167 Scouts.  This "hold" status can be reversed, and the Scouts who moved into 167 can be re-registered in 8167 without loss or disruption should the pilot program end or other circumstances make it necessary.
